MPI Percentage of Duties Assessment

Benchmark Occupational Therapy provides Percentage of Duties (POD) Assessments for Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) when requested as part of an automobile injury claim.

A Percentage of Duties Assessment examines the claimant’s pre-accident occupation, identifies the duties normally required in that role, and evaluates the claimant’s current ability to perform those duties in relation to identified functional limitations.

Depending on the referral, the assessment may include:

• Review of the claimant’s usual job duties and work schedule

• Identification of essential and other occupational duties

• Analysis of the physical and/or cognitive demands associated with those duties

• Review of relevant medical information and functional restrictions

• Functional assessment or observation where required

• Consideration of modified methods, pacing, or other strategies

• Estimation of the proportion of pre-accident work duties the claimant is currently capable of performing

Findings are documented using the applicable MPI reporting requirements and are intended to assist MPI in its determination of the claimant’s work-related functional status.
